The Cahn Fellows Application Deadlines

 

TIMELINE: ACTION:
Friday, December 1, 2017 Deadline for nominations at www.cahnfellows.org. Click on “nominate” link at the top right.   Nominees will receive an email from the program with instructions as to how to apply.
Friday, December 22, 2017 An email will be sent to nominees with online application instructions. Nominee’s portion of the applications must be completed by this date, with all required attachments from the applicant.
Wednesday January 10, 2018 An email will be sent to each of the two references submitted by the nominee with instructions to send recommendation letters directly to the Program Director at lily.woo@tc.columbia.edu.
It is highly recommended that the letters be as follows:

  1. One recommendation letter from a supervisor colleague/superintendent who can speak to the nominee’s leadership qualities and skills as a successful principal.
  1. One letter from a leader in his/her school community who can speak to the nominee’s qualities and successes in working with others and the greater school community (SLT chair, UFT chair, PA/PTA president, etc.).
  1. Letters must include the title/position and contact information of the person writing the letter (on letterhead, if possible).
Late January/early February, 2018 Online applications are reviewed. Applicants who pass the Level I review will be contacted to make arrangements for a site visit review.
February/March/early April 2018 Level 2 sites visits reviews are conducted. Final scores are tallied from both the Level 1 and Level 2 reviews and candidates are ranked.
Third week of April, 2018 2017 Cohort members are notified of their selection and candidates complete and submit program acceptance documents.
End of May, 2018 Public announcement of the new cohort & Welcome Reception at Teachers College
