Ann Leiter has been the principal of P.S. 56 in Queens since 1999. She treasures the value and power of the elementary school years and sees a strong connection between children’s current experiences, their future adulthood and the larger society. Supporting lifelong learning for staff and students, she has implemented several programs into the school to empower staff knowledge and leadership skills including the American Institute for Research Grant Program for RTI intervention, Collaborative Action Research Program and the Teacher Leadership Program. She served as a LEAP mentor in 2015, participated in the Leadership Program at Harvard in 2002, and the Elmore Institute for Transformational Leadership in 2014. A native of Queens, Ann received both her B.S. and M.S. in Elementary Education from St. John’s University and her Administrative diploma from Queens College.
